True History

True History
Untrue history at Church of the Most Precious Blood.

Yesterday I got the email below from my dad, with the subject line True History. It's printed verbatim.

I think it's interesting to see how our writing styles are so similar. How I break lines and thoughts in the same way he does.

I do wish he would have told me what he was going through at the time. It would have helped. But I am glad also to see that he is on the path of not-knowing. Of struggling with the awesome potential of uncertainty and having the strength to look beyond what we take for granted.

Glad also that he put me on that path as well.

I was searching for something and I ran across this, written by me in August of 1997 on the event of your leaving home.
"just don't have anything to say
he has grown up, we always knew it would happen, but we are going to miss him
of course, we have a full life to live and we will do that
i don't think today's sadness is in any sense rational
it is just a loss, a deep beyond english not rationalizable loss
he will do well
and he will become a source of joy
but this is a phase that you can't predict
so now how do we make the future better
and not spend any time wallowing"
